About:
"Hello! My name is Kathryn, but preferably Katy. I was raised in Connecticut in a fun-loving, active Christian household that included my parents and 3 siblings. My family attended church and there was a strong emphasis on faith and Biblical values. I attended Christian Heritage School in Trumbull for high school and then went on to attend Gordon College. While attending Gordon College I was able to learn how to integrate my faith and social work. I received my undergraduate degree in Social Work from Gordon College in 2009. Following college I moved back to Connecticut and began working in the social work field through non-profit agencies as a care coordinator to assist children and families with connecting to appropriate services and resources. I remained in the field working in a variety of roles while completing my graduate degree in Social Work. I graduated from Southern Connecticut State University in May 2014 with a concentration in children and families. I continued working with a non-profit agency providing counseling and case management services for children and families. I received my clinical license in August 2016. I have worked with a variety of populations. I am certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and trained in MATCH-ADTC focusing on anxiety, depression and conduct or behavioral related concerns. I am also trained in Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), which focuses on the parent child relationship and attachment.
I continue to attend the same church I was raised in. This church was also where my husband was raised and we were happily married in our “family church” in 2012. I continue to volunteer with the youth group program. I find great joy in pouring back into the youth in the same way that different mentors poured into my life as a young believer. I view my work with counseling as a way to walk through life with individuals and families to provide support and healing through the truths of God’s goodness and grace."
